Rice Stitch
The Rice stitch is usually a double cross stitch with the addition of small diagonal stitches over the leg of the crosses. The additional diagonal stitches are often stitched in another color for an interesting effect.
The stitch is made up of a row of double size cross stitches. Next the additional stitches are worked in with a backstitch method using either the same or a second color.
Figure 2 shows the Rice stitch over 2 threads.
