Stitch Diagrams

You have heard the names of a wide variety of embroidery stitches used in cross-stitch. Here you can learn from a description and a graphical display how to achieve these stitches.

Blanket Stitch or Buttonhole Stitch

Blanket Stitch

These stitches are worked in the same way with the difference being that in buttonhole stitch the stitches are worked very close together. Bring the thread out on the lower line; insert the needle in position in the upper line, taking a straight downward stitch with the thread under the needle- point. Pull up the stitch to form a loop and repeat. This stitch may also be worked on evenweave fabric.
