The flower celebrated as the August flower of the month is the gladiolus.The gladiolus is a beautiful cut flower and one of the most attractive garden flowers. They are available in a variety of colours: white, yellow, orange, pink and red.
Sometimes, gladiolus are called the sword lily. Some species are small, but others appear to be sword-like, tall and spiky
.These flowers are named after the sword of the gladiator, and they carry a meaning of strength and sincerity. The hidden message of the August Birth Flower, the Gladiolus, so favored during the Victorian era was "Love at first sight".
